If you’re planning to keep that beautiful fridge of yours in storage for a long period of time, here is a quick guide to help you prepare it properly:
Empty the fridge
The first step is to completely empty your fridge out. This means all sections of the fridge including the main section, vegetable trays, freezer and any other special compartments your fridge may have.
Unfreeze the freezer
Most fridges have a freezer, and it’s very important to defrost the freezer before storage. Defrosting must be thoroughly done, to ensure there is no residual ice which can cause moisture retention in the freezer compartment.
Flush the water out
Some fridges have a water supply line or a water tank. Make sure you drain any water in these sections out completely. You don’t want to leave your fridge with any water inside it during storage.
Get that fridge sparkly clean
Give it a good extensive cleaning. You need to make sure there are no traces of dirt, residual food, and other accumulated impurities. Focus on the inside of the fridge and the freezer while cleaning.
Let it breathe some fresh air
After all that hard work emptying and cleaning out the fridge, let it breathe for some time. Keep all doors and trays open and air the fridge for an hour or two, so that it gets completely dry inside.
Seal it and secure it
Seal and secure the doors of your fridge using cord or heavy-duty packing tape. This ensures that the doors do not open during transportation and storage. The Ezyspaces packing team will take care of this for you.
Dress it up for the occasion
The moment has finally arrived, and your fridge needs to be dressed for the occasion! Sometimes it’s best to be in the original packing, if that’s available. If not, a cover made of breathable material is best. Wrap your fridge with this cover and secure it in place using cord or packing tape. The Ezyspaces packing team will also take care of this for you.
The worst nightmare of any fridge owner is mould, terrible smells and pests invading the fridge. Following the quick guide above will ensure that you are reunited with your beloved fridge in pristine condition after it’s storage period and you have many more happy years together!
